Step 1: Access the platform
1. Go to https://notebooklm.google.
2. Sign in with your Google account.
3. Accept the terms of use if it’s your first time.
4. You’ll arrive at the main dashboard, where you can view your notebooks or create a new one.

Step 2: Create a new notebook
1. Click the “New notebook” button.
2. Give your notebook a name (for example, “Renaissance History” or “Biology Project”).
3. Click “Create”.

Step 3: Add sources
1. Inside the notebook, click “Add sources”.
2. You can upload or link content from:
◦ Google Docs
◦ PDF files
◦ Websites (by pasting the link)
◦ Google Slides
◦ Text files
3. Once uploaded, NotebookLM will read and process the content.

Step 4: Use the chat to ask questions
1. On the right-hand side, you’ll see a chat-style box.
2. You can ask questions such as:
◦ “Summarise the document”
◦ “What did the author say about climate change?”
◦ “What are the main arguments in the text?”
3. NotebookLM will respond based only on the documents you uploaded, ensuring relevant and specific answers.

Step 5: Explore additional features
• Audio overview: You can ask NotebookLM to generate a podcast-style audio summary.
• Suggested FAQs: The tool suggests common questions you might want to explore.
• Notes and highlights: You can mark key parts of a document or save useful answers from the chat.

Step 6: Share your notebook
1. Click “Share” if you want to collaborate with classmates or share with teachers.
2. You can generate a public link or keep the notebook private.
3. You can also choose whether others can interact with the content (e.g., view chat responses or only see the source documents).

Step 7: Review and organise your work
1. You can create multiple notebooks for different topics or projects.
2. All notebooks are saved automatically in the cloud.
3. You can return to them at any time and continue working.
